Our "Let's Go to the Movies" Three-Day Camp provides a complete immersion into the world of silent movies and film music, giving students the rare opportunity to create their own silent film AND provide the musical accompaniment!

THE COMPLETE SILENT MOVIE EXPERIENCE

🎼 FROM SCRIPT TO SCREEN
Over three exciting days, your child will experience the entire process of creating a silent movie! From scriptwriting and storyboarding to acting and filming, they'll learn how the earliest filmmakers told stories without spoken dialogue.

🎹 LIVE MUSICAL ACCOMPANIMENT
Experience the authentic thrill of playing live music alongside silent films! Students will learn techniques for improvising and performing musical accompaniment just like pianists did in the early 20th century.

🎭 THE ART OF MUSICAL STORYTELLING
Discover how composers use music to tell stories when there are no words. Students will analyze film clips and learn how music creates emotion, builds tension, and conveys character—essential skills for any developing musician.

🎬 JOURNEY THROUGH FILM MUSIC HISTORY
From the earliest silent films to today's blockbusters, students will explore how film music has evolved while maintaining its essential storytelling purpose—knowledge that enriches their appreciation of both movies and music.

Meet the maestros behind the magic! Students will discover the signature styles and techniques of legendary film composers through engaging listening activities and hands-on composition challenges.

The camp culminates in our "Silent Movie Premiere" where students present their original silent film productions with live musical accompaniment they've created and performed themselves—a unique achievement parents will treasure!

AN ENRICHING THREE-DAY EXPERIENCE

Our camp creates a perfect balance of musical education and creative fun:

DAY 1: THE HISTORY & ART OF SILENT FILM

• Introduction to silent film techniques and storytelling

• Exploring the crucial role of music in silent cinema

• Hands-on experience with silent film musical accompaniment

• Script development and storyboarding workshops

DAY 2: FROM NOTES TO NARRATIVE

• Filming sessions for student-created silent movies

• Music selection and composition workshops

• Practice sessions for film accompaniment

• "Name That Movie" challenges and film music games

DAY 3: BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER

• Final filming and musical rehearsals

• Creating title cards and adding finishing touches

• Dress rehearsal for the showcase

Each day runs from 9:00am to 3:00pm with supervised lunch break included.
